Peter Baratosy is a medical doctor practising in the city of Adelaide and in Salisbury, north of Adelaide, South Australia. He is the author of numerous books on Alternative Medicine and lectures regularly for the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM).
Dr Baratosy believes that the best approach in the treatment of disease is the use of “natural” medicine: lifestyle, diet, nutrition and natural therapies. That is what he considers real medicine. Some have referred to the natural approach as “complementary” medicine… as if the natural approach complements the sanctioned modern, drug, surgery approach.
Dr Baratosy disagrees.
Modern medicine should be called “complementary medicine” because it is complementary to the natural, preventative approach, and not the other way around.
The natural, preventative approach is the best means of dealing with health problems. In spite of what has just been said; modern medicine cannot be totally dismissed… it does have a place; its main usefulness is possibly only in life and death situations and, possibly, as a last resort.
Dr Baratosy uses many natural techniques in the treatment of disease, such as diet and nutrition, including intravenous Vitamin C and other nutrients, acupuncture, prolotherapy, chelation, homeopathy, hypnotherapy, bio-identical hormones and herbalism.
He is particularly interested in the Metabolic Syndrome (diabetes, hypertension, obesity and cholesterol),Thyroid Problems, Gastro-intestinal problems and Hormonal Problems in men and women.

Dr Baratosy is a firm believer that the person with the disease should be part of the solution and not part of the problem. Health is earned by working on it, not just by swallowing a pill. Part of the treatment, part of the cure of any disease does depend on the person to make changes in their life-style: To eat better, to exercise more, sleep more, be less stressed, get more sunshine. Smoking should definitely be stopped.
PLEASE NOTE
Things are very busy: there is a 6-8 week waiting list. If making an appointment, please ring the surgery where you wish to go and make at least a double appointment, or if you think your condition is extra complicated, a triple appointment. I also suggest you make a second appointment 5-6 weeks after the initial consult for follow-up, at the same time.
If you wish to have acupuncture, still make the initial double appointment but also make weekly appointments for 5-6 weeks. For Prolotherapy, make the initial double appointment and then ask for 5-6 single appointments every 2 weeks.
I would really appreciate, that if for some reason you cannot keep the appointment, please cancel (24 hours would be nice)....this can give someone else a chance to get in. A NON ATTENDANCE FEE WILL BE CHARGED IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND.
Remember that YOU may get in earlier if and when someone cancels their appointment!
Please do the same for others.
By following these simple requests, you will be helping me to help you.
Thank You
